Main Street Intersection, Liverpool, about 1897. Did you know the train track went right down Main Street at that time? This was the track for the Liverpool & Milton Tramway. It brought pulp down river from the Pulp Mill in Milton to the wharf. It also picked up passengers, hence the little caboose type car on the end.
You can see the end building behind the train where Fred’s Shoe Store is today. The Town Hall has not yet been built. The tall roof in behind the trees is home of James and Jedidah Gorham, where the present Town Hall sits. This house was moved by horse and oxen team and now sits on Court St. (an apartment building next to Aliant).
